Cyber Monday Sale!

I’ve got lots of cute project bags up for sale in the shop for the holidays, check them out!

Make All the Minis!

Holy summer batman!

Yes, I’m alive. And, I did have a pretty good summer too.

I had some good waves of sewing/crafting amid all the chaos. Err, I mean, amid the trips, camps, pool days, picnic days, etc.

As you all know, I absolutely love making Sew Together Bags. And, in case you didn’t know, there’s a wonderful little spreadsheet put together by Occasional Piece to calculate the Sew Together Bag pattern into a mini!

SAY WHAT?!?! Yes ma’am!

Now, why did I need to make 8 of them you say??

Well, why not? right?

Just kidding, I made 8 so I could share in the mini goodness.

You see, every fall I get the privilege to journey up to Lancaster, PA for a little Mayhem in Paradise with seven other awesome ladies. So, naturally I had to make one for each of them. Can you guess which one is mine?

I decided to do these production line style, and man it was fun!

Fun, up until the hand stitching of the binding down part. Maybe it’s because that part always takes the longest, that and the cutting part.

So, now you want to go make some mini Sew Together bags right??

I think I may have a little stack of fabric patiently waiting to be a part of my next production line.

Just maybe. *grin*

Around the World Blog Hop

I was invited by the amazing Julie of Jolie Maxtin. She’s a good friend I met a few years ago at my very first quilt retreat. The woman is a magical quilter and the fastest binder I know!

My apologies for posting this two weeks late, the flu hit two in my household (thankfully I made it through unscathed) so not much room for blogging/crafting.

What am I working on?

I’ll be honest with this one, I have a long list of what I’m working on right now. I think I have crafting ADD….

There are some lofty goals for the beginning of this year for me, and tackling my WIPs is definitely one of them. Other than that, there are quite a few fun things I’m working on.

I’m trying to wrap up a surprise ROY G BIV project:

And, I’ve been turning my postage stamp 9 patches that I was doing for the #scrappypostagestampqal on Instagram into 16 patches. I think joining the larger ones will be easier.

There is a wonderful pile of Churn Dasher blocks, from my first time being the Queen Bee in a quilting bee, that I need to add just a few to that will hopefully make their way to a finished quilt soon.

Also, this month I’m the Quilter for the Promise Circle of do.good.stitches quilting bee on Flickr. Here are the blocks I have received so far:

Why do I create?

The age old question, why? Simply put, I create because I feel I need to. I’ve always been driven to make things, anything really. I learned to crochet at 5, and that was only the beginning. I’ve always been intrigued with the process of making things. All through school, the only part about history class I ever really payed attention to were the parts about how people used to make things, or the ways that people used to garden. One of my favorite school memories was making candles by dipping in I believe 5th grade. I like things simple, and I love the process! That doesn’t mean I don’t like a project that’s a challenge (those are great too).

I enjoy every part of creating something, from selecting materials and patterns to every stitch involved (not so much the stitches that sometimes have to come out though…). Being able to give someone a gift that I have made especially for them is such a blessing to me.

I’m not forwarding to any other bloggers, but would love to leave this blog hop open to anyone who would like to participate!

Christmas Quilts of 2014

You guys!!!!!

I did it!

Remember all those crazy #christmasquilting photos back in April? Well, planning early and actually sewing early paid off. Now, I was sewing away for about a week straight (literally, I’m surprised my kids fended for themselves so well… kidding, kinda. hahaha). How did your holiday projects go?

Each quilt was delivered on time and wrapped. Someone pinch me, I’m still not sure I believe it all got finished!

Thankfully we had a bit of nice weather for pictures, though there was tons of mud…. And the little guy was in desperate need of a nap, so sorry for the grumpy shots.

Ha, someone even convinced me to take a picture of ME with the quilts. Why would I want a picture of me? And to share it….

Gotta love this crazy bunch!

I love looking back on the day before, or even the past few days, and think about all that happened.

To think about all the nice little things my kids have said or done, think about the weather, think about the things that we did together that made someone happy. Most of all I like to think about the way we all are growing together each day.

For example, my boys have been crazy about tick tack toe lately. We have an easel with a chalk board on one side and this is ‘the bestest place for tick toe’ in the house. It’s so great to just watch them have something else that they can actually do with little to no fighting. The best part though, when no one wins ‘the cats won’. Yea, great right?!

We went for a walk yesterday, first time to the park since fall, and it was quite nice. We noticed that spring is just around the corner, and buds were everywhere. I can’t wait for the warmer days that are coming.

Not sure if I’m more excited about the weather, or the fact that warmer weather means yardsale season!!

(All my pictures were from yesterday, thanks Mom for my first D&G purse!!!)

Where Oh Where Have I Been?

No blogging, I know. No adding more goodies to the shop, I know. But, but, but.

It’s the Holiday Season! And Santa Clause has got a toy… (keep singing, I can’t hear).

Ha ha.

But, no really, I’ve been lots of busy doing fun family stuff, making tons of Christmas presents, and eating waaayyy too many cookies… with milk of course.

I haven’t even had any time to even read my favorite blogs lately, boo hoo right??

I just wanted to drop in and wish everyone a Happy or Merry Whatever-You-Celebrate!!

Oh yea, and lots of this:

Needless to say, my first king has officially been put on hold for at least 1 week, and no more than 2!!

I have a yard sale/craft sale coming up this weekend, so I want to get a few things made up to have a bit more that just what’s in my etsy shop.

(Some flowers my daughter is growing, pretty.)

My #3 kiddo is turning 3 the end of this month, and I want to get a banner made up, so I can finally have one…

Also, I have a few miscellaneous projects that I need to get a start on for the holidays, and birthdays.

You see, my kids birthdays fall in June, August, October, and December, so the second half of the year is all birthday and all holiday… fun times.

On another note, here’s a pillow I made on Tuesday. I quite like it, I did a hidden zipper on one side, and I think I’m in love with how it turned out. I don’t think I’ll be doing too many envelope cases now.

It was so easy to cut it out and attach the trim, I just followed the pattern in the fabric. It matched up perfectly at the seams too!! Yay.
